I think of my work as an opportunity to record and express thoughts and ideas communicated visually through the process of painting. I am inspired by my memories and experiences in my life as well as a passion for looking and studying art, from painters of the Renaissance to Contemporary. I am especially interested in the ideas of movement and time and how to convey these themes in my work.

The desire to express my personal vision has evolved into an abstract language that consists of the repetition of gestural marks combined with fields of color through layers of paint. I work intuitively, encouraging and responding to random and unexpected combinations of color and the material nature of paint as if having a conversation on the canvas.

My goal is not to describe, but to engage and elicit a visual response, reflecting a sense of connection and emotion with my impressions of time, memories and places. I believe the meaning of my work is contained in the thought, work and process of making.
